With almost two decades of experience in Congress, the Executive Branch and Fortune 500 board rooms, Tracy Schmaler has spent her career at the intersection of law, government, and the media. She leads the ASGK practice providing clients with strategic public affairs and media relations advice on crisis communications, corporate litigation, government investigations and federal regulatory matters, as well as general issues management.
Tracy served four years in the Obama Administration where she managed the Office of Public Affairs at the Department of Justice and was one of Attorney General Holder’s longest-serving advisors responsible for strategic communications on high-profile criminal, civil and antitrust litigation, as well as policy and legislative issues.
Previously, Tracy oversaw global public affairs for Yahoo! Inc., where she advised the CEO and executive leadership, and served on the company’s crisis communications team managing M&A issues and the proxy contest with Carl Icahn. Tracy also worked for the Senate Judiciary Committee as Communications Director, where she was chief spokesperson for the Committee and its Chairman, Senator Patrick Leahy. She began her career as a political reporter.
